Mission

A new architecture deserves a new advocate.

In decentralized systems a node is the fundamental unit, a peer in a network with no single point of control. The name is the architecture.

NODE is the government-affairs partner for organizations pioneering the next generation of AI: autonomous agents, open-source systems, local AI, decentralized architectures and blockchain-based infrastructure.

Today's AI policy debate is built around a single model: centralized, cloud-hosted, and controlled by providers. NODE exists to ensure that the other model – open, local, and decentralized – is represented, understood, and protected. We work in Brussels, in London, and, node by node, in every jurisdiction where the rules of AI are being written.

Insurgent

We defy the current status quo of (centralized) AI policy and its incumbents.

Expert

Built and run by experts with a proven track record of shaping regulation across the EU and UK (and soon in Latam, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East).

Cutting-edge

We are AI-Native. We apply the technology that we advocate for in our own public policy work.

Inclusive

We offer a free membership tier for any company building local and decentralized AI, agentic systems, or open-source infrastructure, because financial constraints should never keep a company's voice out of the policy arena.

The industry's unified voice.

What we set out to achieve:

  1. Establish a unified industry voice.A cohesive message across the decentralized and agentic AI ecosystem to strengthen advocacy impact.
  2. Engage policymakers and the public.White papers, events, a repository of best practices, and workshops for policymakers.
  3. Influence and shape laws and policies.Direct engagement with policymakers and regulators to secure workable frameworks for decentralized and agentic AI.
  4. Support research and thought leadership.Fund and promote research that demonstrates the benefits of decentralized AI approaches.
  5. Push for global alignment.Advocate for internationally harmonized regulatory approaches that make cross-border deployment possible.

NODE does not engage on defence-related matters. The association does not work with, represent, or advocate on behalf of defence industry companies, products, or applications; its policy activities are limited to civilian and commercial applications of decentralized AI.

Focus Areas

Where the rules for the next generation of AI are being written.

We work on the policy questions that decide whether local, open, decentralized and agentic AI can be built and deployed at scale.

Local AI

  • Recognition of on-device and operator-free AI as a valid compliance and sovereignty pathway.
  • Outcome-based sovereignty criteria (data locality, no foreign jurisdictional exposure, resilience) rather than institutional form alone.

Agentic AI

  • Liability frameworks for autonomous AI decision-making and agent actions.
  • Human-oversight requirements for high-stakes autonomous AI applications, and closing the "agentic gap" in existing AI frameworks.

Open-Source AI

  • Safety and security standards for publicly available AI models and training data.
  • Intellectual property and licensing frameworks for collaborative AI development.

Decentralized AI

  • Governance models for distributed AI networks and consensus mechanisms.
  • Cross-jurisdictional compliance for decentralized AI systems operating across borders.

Blockchain-based AI Infrastructure

  • Data sovereignty and provenance tracking in blockchain-verified AI training.
  • Policy frameworks for decentralized AI compute resources.

What We Do

Everything a policy team needs, built for local and decentralized AI.

Policy Monitoring & Analysis

Real-time intelligence on EU and UK DeAI & Agentic AI policy developments; and strategic, in-depth analysis of how they affect our members' AI innovation and deployment roadmaps.

Stakeholder Mapping & Policy Advocacy

Direct lines to the European Parliament, EU Commission, and UK regulators, engaging their most influential lawmakers and regulatory authorities to secure favorable regulatory approaches and policy frameworks for our members.

Coalition Building, Campaigns & Partnerships

We forge industry alliances and help members file joint submissions and coordinated responses, while executing policy campaigns to shape the rules before they're written.

Strategic Briefs & Check-Ins

Weekly regulatory and policy intelligence briefings, with timely analysis of regulatory shifts and policy trends that directly impact our members' strategic business objectives.

AI Policy Bootcamp

Hands-on training & capacity building programs. Turn your team into policy-literate operators in decentralized systems.

Policy Lab

Co-creation workshops with regulators and innovators to prototype governance frameworks that shape future laws, or complement, interpret, and enforce existing ones.

Strategic Advisory

Guidance on AI-related compliance and enforcement issues for regulations that target our members' specific AI applications, and tailored compliance frameworks for their AI systems.

Membership

Two ways to be part of NODE.

Free access for every builder. A governing seat for those who want to set the agenda.
